As a rule of thumb: the higher the dBi, the flatter the angle the antenna can receive from. In hilly areas cell towers are usually located at the peak of the hill, and if you've got a very high gain antenna (like 9dBi) chances are the antenna won't have a tall enough angle to receive from the tower. The CDQ2197's 7.5dBi gain is an excellent compromise between high/low gain, making it the ideal antenna if you live or work in remote areas - low enough to work when you're in town and travelling through hilly areas, but truly comes to life when out in remote and flat areas. The secret to this extraordinary performance lies in the use of two unique PCB radiators. These meander circuits are coupled together to deliver extraordinary consistency in gain and pattern. This latest design offers coverage across multiple networks – ideal for the latest requirements where network operators can switch calls between bands. With a 13mm stud mount on an heavy duty electropolished stainless steel spring, these antennas may be installed on a number of mounting brackets and are ideal for installations in commercial vehicles, four wheel drives and trucks. The CDQ2197's fully ground-independent design results in true 7.5dBi gain regardless of mounting position.

Thanks for friendly and prompt service. It is becoming rare these days. Easy installation, and my signal strength on a Galaxy 2 less than a kilometer from a Telstra tower went from -93 dbm 11 asu, to -79 dbm 17 asu with the 7.5 db antenna connected. I will be using it in a known marginal reception area over the next week, then the top end of Frazer Island will really test it next month. Some more sales may come your way as I will certainly be doing the "my phone reception is better than yours" bragging with the other travelers."

What connection does this antenna have?
This antenna has a 5m cable that terminates with an FME Female connector. The FME Female connector is the most common type of connector for mobile antennas and mates with the FME Male connector found on patch leads and phone cradles.
