AirMAX Sector is a Carrier Class 2x2 Dual Polarity MIMO Base Station Antenna that was designed to seamlessly integrate with Rocket M5 radios. Pair a Rocket M5 radio with an airMAX Sector reach to create a high powered PtMP base station, covering a 120 degree sector. 120 degree sectors are ideal for when deploying a conventional 3 sector airMAX node. The 4-degree vertical beam with high 16dBi gain is ideal for macro-cell base stations. When sectoring in this fashion it's important that each node is integrated with a Rocket M5 GPS in order to take advantage of airMAX's proprietary AirSync protocol. AirSync replaces the radio's conventional carrier-sense timing protocol with a inter-radio synchronised TDMA protocol. Instead of each radio polling for a quiet channel before transmitting (and potentially colliding), AirSync detects the GPS coordinates of each unit and synchronises transmissions into separate time slots. In addition to GPS synchronisation, multi-sector deployments will require additional antenna shielding (RF-deadening material and RF Armor are strongly advised). airmax-m5-16
