The new NanoBeam AC M5 is part of the new AC series, incorporating 802.11ac technology - providing 256QAM modulation resulting in data rates as high as 450Mbps @ >65dBm. Previous PowerBeam and NanoBeam models were based on 802.11n technology which provided up to 64QAM (270Mbps, but often limited by their 10/100Eth interface to 100Mbps).
NanoBeam AC 19's are most commonly deployed to provide a very high speed wireless bridge between adjacent buildings. The units moderate 19dBi gain makes it ideal for short range high capacity network sharing, with a typical suggested range of 100-600m. Due to the small dish size, these units are best for locations isolated from competing 5GHz networks.
Improved Noise Immunity
The PowerBeam AC directs RF energy in a tighter beamwidth. With the focus in one direction, the PowerBeam AC blocks or spatially filters out noise, so noise immunity is improved. This feature is especially important in an area crowded with other RF signals of the same or similar frequency.
This is a transparent data-link layer bridge, not a routed bridge - this means that you are creating a virtual ethernet cable between the two facilities, making network setup incredibly simple - no routing configuration, all protocols (DHCP, DNS, etc) just work. Management of the Ubquiti device couldn't be easier with SSH and SNMP protocol support, as well as a very intuitive HTTP interface.
Ready to Install
This unit has all networking hardware and surge protection integrated and is completely weatherproof for permanent installation in even the toughest environments. Signal strength indicators allow for quick and easy alignment. For best performance the unit should be roof mounted, high and clear of obstructions, via it's integrated pole mounting bracket.
The units are powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) - simply plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the NanoBeam, and the other into the PoE Injector (which is plugged into AC power). This allows one cable to both power the unit and also carry network traffic. We recommend using Cat6 Outdoor UV Shielded Cable with this unit.
