In hilly areas, cell towers are usually located at the peak of the hill, and if you've got a very high gain antenna (like 9dBi) chances are the antenna won't have a tall enough angle to receive from the tower

The CDQ7197's 7.5dBi gain is an excellent compromise between high/low gain, making it the ideal antenna if you live or work in remote areas - low enough to work when you're in town and travelling through hilly areas, but truly comes to life when out in remote and flat areas.
