Check out how easy it is to dramatically improve indoor coverage on a Telstra Next-G Samsung Galaxy S2. In this demonstration we simply placed a CD1250T 5dBi ground independent antenna (doesn't need a metal surface) on the roof and connected it into a Galaxy S2 using a patch lead and pre-drilled back cover.

Best results are always achieved using a cradle designed specifically for your Note 4. Universal Cradles can be used but a fitted cradle will produce the best results.

To provide the best performing passive antenna connection, we ran a series of mini-patch antennas through a number of tests and determined the Taoglas Phoenix antenna as the hands-down winner. As with all passive antennas the patch must be aligned with the phones internal antenna which will require trialling a number of different positions. On most handsets we find placing the patch horizontally either up the top or bottom against the back.

Passive patch leads - a word of caution..

By their very nature, passive patch leads can never work as well as a direct connecting patch lead (ie, one that has a metal-on-metal transfer of signal). This type of patch lead simply consists of a coil of wire that acts as a small antenna, as such it's a generic design - the same design used for all phone brands. In comparison a fitted phone cradle has a much larger metal coil that has been specifically designed to match the phones internal antenna, providing far better performance.

We offer this product as a cheaper alternative, but are having mixed results with it's success, so for best results we thoroughly encourage the purchase of a cradle designed specifically for your phone.

What does a passive patch lead do?

Despite not having an external antenna port, this phone may benefit from an external antenna by using a passive patch lead at reduced performance. This type of patch lead has a pad containing a specially designed coil of wire and uses the principle of electromagnetic induction to enable signal to re-radiate from the pad to the phones internal antenna. Typically users experience anywhere from 5-10dB of signal loss depending on the design of the mobile phone, and the placement of the passive pad. To function effectively the pad _must_ be placed directly on top of the phones internal antenna.
