Access

Serviceable masts are designed so technicians can access head loads in order to conduct maintenance, upgrades or perform other work to the mounted RF equipment.

They are an ideal solution in locations where it's not feasible to use Elevated Work Platforms (EWP), and typically speaking, are simple to use and can be operated by one or two people.

Varied designs

Designs are varied and include hinged masts that have a counterweight installed to offset the mast, and operate in a similar fashion as a seesaw using basic pivoting principles.

Simple winch systems, whether a manual crank or powered/automated, are also common, as are air-driven pneumatic telescoping masts.

Spindle driven and worm gear drives (where the headframe is lowered rather than the pole) are less common but can support larger headloads, commonly to 300kg, to greater heights than other systems.

Some of the tallest serviceable masts make use of hydraulic rams to lower the tower, which can be up to 40m in height.

Applications for collapsible masts can be almost any conditions and any location, small roof mounted masts to free standing towers.

The main limitation is the height which cannot exceed 40m without serious re-engineering which has proved to be not economically viable.

Cost effective

Serviceable masts can be a cost effective alternative, when you consider the prospect of hiring an EWP and a technicians with the required qualifications to operate and perform the work.

Engineer approved recommendation

Due to the complicated nature of tower infrastructure, it can prove valuable to have an engineer approved recommendation for a solution that will accommodate a particular project.

We offer a Tower Recommendation Proposal Consultation Service, this provides you with a detailed report that can be used for planning of communication assets.
