Usage

• The RocketDish RD-5G31-AC is a 2X2 MIMO dish antenna designed to seamlessly integrate with RocketM radios (RocketM sold separately)

• Pair the RocketM’s radio with the RocketDish antenna’s reach to create the endpoint of a high-performance, Point-to-Point (PtP) backhaul

• We regularly deploy RocketDish M5s as the high bandwidth backbone between two sites, typically out to 15km (rLOS). In shorter range communications smaller form-factor equipment can be deployed, but this can leave the link susceptible to interference and reduced throughput due to link adaptation

• Another concern is channel pollution (observed as a rise in noisefloor at other APs/stations), particularly when the transmitter is tower or rooftop mounted

• While Ubiquiti spec this antenna at 31dBi, in real world terms 0.6m dishes have around 27-28dBi gain. If your link requires ~30dBi gain antennas, please check out our 0.9m antennas:

• The Ubiquiti Research and Development team engineered the RocketDish RD-5G31-AC with high isolation and Front-to-Back (F/B) ratio - the main benefit is improved Signal-to-Noise Ratio (S/N or SNR).

• The improved F/B ratio and lower sidelobes reduce the interference from other transmitters in the area – potentially on the same tower

• The improved S/N ratio allows a higher-order modulation to be used, for example, 256QAM rather than 16QAM. This in turn increases the number of bits per second for a fixed bandwidth, which is also known as the data rate.
