RFI 8-12dBi 3G+4G+4GX LPDA Antenna

Key Features

  • Solid construction for maximum performance and reliability

  • Integrated bracket for poles 25-60mm

  • Your choice of cable length and connector (SMA or N-type)

  • Wide spectrum design, suits all current and planned cellular networks (including 700MHz LTE).

Additional Information

  • The true brilliance of this engineering masterpiece is its extremely wideband design - operating on two extremely wide bands 694-1000MHz and 1500-3000MHz

  • Coupled with its robust durable construction, this log periodic dipole array (LPDA) antenna will stand up to the challenge of the ever-changing network of frequencies for years to come.

  • Not sure if you'll get 4G? With an equally high gain on all other 2G/3G networks, you can still improve your current connection

  • With the Telstra 4G network expanding to cover 60% of Australia's population in 2013 this is an antenna you can buy with the reassurance of future compatibility

  • Take full advantage of the blistering fast speed the Telstra 4G network offers

  • If you're outside the official 4G 'coverage zone' or your modem keeps switching back over to Next-G, this antenna will help you lock on, or increase the signal strength and speed of your 4G connection.

Better for hilly areas

  • Lower gain Yagi antennas are ideal for areas where hills are very close to your location (within about 2km)

  • Hills create a multipath environment - transmissions that bounce off trees or terrain at an acute angle cause signal echos

  • Having travelled a further distance than a straight line transmission these signals are delayed, and to a simple receiver would be nothing more than interference

  • However, thanks to clever technology used in cellular communications, multipath signals can recovered by your modem's RAKE combiner (or with cyclic prefix for OFDMA based systems)

  • A RAKE receiver consists of a series of sub-radios which read the incoming signal at different delay periods (typically one chip in WCDMA) and then combined to result in a higher quality signal

  • This antenna rests at ground potential, providing improved lightning protection and reduced precipitation static noise

  • Termination is via your choice of an 'N' female coaxial connector fitted to a short LMR195 cable tail, or SMA male connector fitted to a 10 metre low loss LMR195 cable

  • We recommend the use of LMR400 grade cable when using this antenna on 4G due to it's high frequency

  • 4G technology employs MIMO technology, which requires two antennas to function at full capacity - when receiving a 4G signal greater than two bars consider purchasing two antennas to maximise speed. Only one antenna is used on 3G.

  • Weight: 1.24kg

  • Dimensions: 1100mm (l) 180mm (h) 60mm (w)

  • You can choose between a 10m cable that terminates with an SMA Male connector, or a short 50cm lead with an N Female connector

  • If 10m of cable is enough you can use the appropriate patch lead (make sure it has a SMA Female connector) to connect to your modem

  • If using this antenna with a mobile phone you will probably need an SMA to FME adaptor to attach your phone's patch lead or cradle

  • If you need to use more cable, or are using it on 4G, you'll need to select the N Female connector option so you can attach a super low loss cable (which have N Male connectors).

Customer Feedback

Just an update to let you know how correct you were. While the cradle gave me a very reliable voice connection (up from SOS only), data was only intermittent and very slow. Finally purchased a cheap zte T81(Frontier) and patch lead and inserted my existing sim. Tether 4.5Mbps!!!!! Faster than my landline at home (Goulburn) which is 1.2 on a good day - 8 ks from the PO. Not bad for no coverage on the telstra map, the antenna you supplied certainly did the trick.

All the equipment that you quoted on is installed and I am very pleased with the result. I originally installed the antenna on 50mm gal pipe which raised it about 3m above gutter height (single story) checked router 4 out of 5bars- did speed test 13mbps DL 3.5mbps UL But there was a considerable amount of dropouts. After a bit of trial and error I have found a sweet spot. The antenna is now mounted on an upside down “J” bracket with the antenna about 2.2 metres off the ground beaming thru the trunks of the trees and not the foliage (as it was up higher), just as you said would be better. I get a constant 6 to 8 mbps DL and around 1mbps UL. The router shows 3 bars BUT no drop outs, NONE, ZILCH ever in more than a week. In this last week it has been windy, hot, raining and the last two days heavy fog which was always a 3G killer here But still no drop outs and still the same 6 to 8 mbps. The router shows a medium signal at between 81 bBm to 89 bBm and usually settles at 85 dBm. The antenna is beamed to about 219 degrees to get away from some low foliage instead of 215 degrees which gives the higher DL but dropouts as well. The trees are 60feet plus tall and if I was to put up a massive tower I am sure that I would achieve fantastic figures with this setup ,but with what I get now I do not see any reason why go to that expense as as the trees mature to their final height and there is no ground cover other than maintained pasture then I should not have too many problems for a while and these figures are more than what I envisaged possible . I just do not need anything faster. Thank you for your survey and antenna/equipment recommendation ,I have already passed on your particulars to others here and grey nomads I know in Qld,(looking for caravan reception). By the way I ordered the equipment on a Tuesday afternoon and it was here Thursday morning – just another thing that made this transaction the right choice.

Thank you very much for your assistance yesterday. I setup the antenna and ran the cable – excellent results. So far , I am getting 100% signal – 5 bars and download speeds between 5 & 10 Mb/sec. If this continues, I will be very pleased. Again, I must commend you on your website – it is the best I have seen for this sort of product/service and is why I contacted you initially.
